Our story: how Movers24 started in a single van in 2018

Movers24 started in Tallinn in 2018 with one van and one simple frustration: moving in Estonia was either cheap and careless, or careful and unaffordable – and half the time nobody answered the phone in the language you actually spoke. So we built the moving company we would want for our own families. Eight years and more than 4000 moves later, that one van is now a fleet of fifteen, and the three rules we started with still run the company.

Every company has an origin story. Ours is not a pitch deck or a clever app. It is a van, a stairwell, and a stubborn idea that a move should feel calm instead of chaotic. This is how Movers24 began, and why we still do things the way we do.

2018: one van and a frustration

Movers24 began the way a lot of good small companies do – someone helped a friend move, did it properly, and realised most people in Tallinn were not getting "properly." Back then you had two choices. You could hire cheap movers who turned up late and chipped your furniture, or careful ones who cost a small fortune. And if your Estonian was not perfect, plenty of them simply did not pick up.

We had carried enough sofas down narrow Lasnamae stairwells to know the difference between a crew that cares and a crew that is watching the clock. The idea was almost stubbornly simple: do every move the way you would move your own mother's flat. Calm, careful, on time, fair price – and answer the phone in Estonian and English, whichever the customer actually speaks.

The three rules we started with (and still keep)

Before we had a brand, a website, or a name people recognised, we had three rules. They still run the company today:

1. A permanent, vetted crew – not strangers off a day-labour list. The person carrying your wardrobe today should still be here next year. It is the only way the same standard reaches every job.
2. A fixed price, agreed in writing. So the only surprise on moving day is how easy it was. No hourly meter, no end-of-job invoice shock.
3. Full cargo insurance on every move. Not a premium add-on, not the big jobs only. Every move, every time.

Growing, quietly

We did not grow by being the loudest or the cheapest. We grew because the family we moved told the next family. Home moves brought office moves. Estonian customers brought their expat colleagues and neighbours, because we answered in both languages without making it a thing. One van became two, then a small fleet, then fifteen – each one a deliberate step, bought because the work was real, not because a plan on paper said "scale."

Somewhere in there, Otto joined the front seat. Our mascot is the spirit of the crew in one friendly character: the calm, strong, good-natured mover who has carried ten thousand boxes and never once dropped your coffee mug. He is shorthand for the thing we actually sell – the feeling of being in safe hands.

Across the border

As our customers' lives spread out, so did our routes. A job in Helsinki. Family in Riga or Vilnius. A fresh start in Stockholm or Berlin. So we learned the long routes properly – the ferries, the paperwork, the door-to-door logistics that turn a frightening international move into one phone call and one fixed quote. Today: the company is bigger, the promise is the same

Eight years in, more than 4000 moves done, a fleet of fifteen vans, and the same permanent crew growing one good hire at a time. We are licensed, fully insured, and you can still reach us around the clock when a move cannot wait. The company is bigger than that first van. The promise has not changed at all.
